Marshland Historic Gullah Neighborhood

Marshland is small community located near Broad Creek.

• Marshland was once known for its sailboat builders, who built and sold sailboats. Their work was essential since boats were the primary mode of transportation during the Island's pre-development era.
• Sailboats were used in the nearby waterways to transport watermelon and other Island grown crops to markets in Savannah.
