Beaufort County collects property tax revenues for the Town of Hilton Head Island.
Payment Options
The Town of Hilton Head Island requires any business operating within the limits of the Town, including home occupations, to obtain a Business License.

The Real Estate Transfer Fee is .25 of one percent of the sale price for real estate purchased within the Hilton Head Island Town, and is usually included in the closing costs of the transaction.

A tax equal to three percent of the total gross sales price received for the rental of any rooms (excluding meeting rooms), campground spaces, recreational vehicle spaces, lodgings or sleeping accommodations provided to transients by any hotel, inn, condominium, motel, "bed and breakfast," residence or any other place in which rooms, lodgings or sleeping accommodations are provided to transients within the Town of Hilton Head Island.

A tax equal to two percent of the total gross sales price received for prepared foods, meals and beverages sold. This tax generates approximately $5 million annually that is dedicated to pay debt service on a $10 million bond for public safety projects and other capital improvement projects.
