Hilton Head Island is under a Hurricane Warning

Hurricane Ian

Tropical Storm Ian strengthened and is now a category 1 hurricane moving north-northeast at 10 miles per hour with sustained winds of 75 miles per hour. It is currently in the Atlantic Ocean near northeast Florida.

Later tonight, Thursday, September 29, 2022, through tomorrow, Friday, September 30 Hilton Head Island is expected to see tropical storm winds, storm surge and heavy rain.

As winds speeds increase, we strongly recommend residents and guests to stay, especially our bridges and causeways. The safest place to be is indoors.
