Red Hot Readers

The Red Hot Reader program connects Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue personnel with children in the classroom, after school programs or summer camps.

Our personnel want to establish partnerships with our local schools, after school programs and summer camps. We work with the students weekly on reading with the intent to build self-esteem, confidence and value in themselves.

This program is about making connections, engaging students, and creating a connection with our community.

• Targeted students would be in groups of three to five.
• Fire Rescue personnel read and discuss a book to each group.
• Fire Rescue personnel relate the theme of the book to our job duties and core values.
• Each weekly session would lasts an hour.
