Jarvis Creek Park Forest Management & Safety Restoration Underway

January 10, 2025

Tree pruning and other forestry and safety efforts are underway at Jarvis Creek Park, 50 Jarvis Creek Road, from now until Jan. 15, 2025. The project, a part of the Town’s environmental sustainability efforts to enhance visibility and safety in the park, will focus on:

  • Raising low tree canopies around parking areas and pathways.
  • Pruning dead wood from tree canopies.
  • Removing dead trees and heavy vines near the parking lot and pathways.
  • Selective rejuvenation pruning of native plant species.
  • Controlling invasive species and saplings.

The work will help prevent falling branches and promote the growth of native species, benefiting the ecosystem and wildlife in the park. Work will begin near the parking lot and field playground area, with minimal temporary parking space closures. To ensure visitor safety, temporary partial closures of pathways may occur during overhead canopy pruning.

The restroom facilities, pavilions, main playground, outdoor workout area, and dock will remain open throughout the project. Signage will be placed to guide visitors and highlight active work zones. Please use caution while visiting the park during this period of work.

We appreciate your patience as we enhance Jarvis Creek Park for your safety and enjoyment. For more information, contact communications@hiltonheadislandsc.gov.
