Folly Field Beach Park to Get a New Boardwalk

Beginning Monday, September 11, Folly Field Beach Park will be closed temporarily.

September 6, 2023

Construction work on a brand-new boardwalk at the Folly Field Beach Park at 55 Starfish Drive will get underway next Monday, September 11. During the construction period, Folly Field Beach Park will be closed temporarily. Parking and access to the beach at this location will be unavailable.

The project, part of the Town of Hilton Head Island’s Capital Improvement Program, involves the demolition of the existing boardwalk that stretches from the beach park to the shore and the construction of a new boardwalk in the same location. The current boardwalk has been in place since 1991. Work on the new boardwalk is expected to be finished by Friday, November 17.

While Folly Field Beach Park is closed, beachgoers are encouraged to visit other beach parks around the island:
