Hilton Head Island residents now have a new place to indulge in the thriving sport of pickleball.
The Town of Hilton Head Island recently undertook a $250,000 project to renovate the existing tennis/pickleball courts at Old Schoolhouse Park located at 152 William Hilton Parkway. The 42-day project transformed the existing tennis courts into six dedicated pickleball courts, responding to the community’s desire for increased pickleball opportunities at Town parks.
"We listened to our residents’ requests for more pickleball options in our parks. This project is precisely about revitalizing our facility within this expansive open park and affording pickleball enthusiasts more venues to enjoy their beloved game," said Hilton Head Island Mayor Alan Perry.
The upgraded courts now feature:
"This is a brand-new day for Old Schoolhouse Park," said Construction Project Manager Chris McVey. "A new, better surface, more courts, a place where pickleball enthusiasts can not only play but watch other matches as they happen. They can enjoy the sport they love and experience the natural beauty of this improved Town park all at the same time."
