Pre-Application Process

A Pre-Application Meeting is an informal discussion of the project with staff to provide you with comments, suggestions and/or concerns from Town departments that will review your final proposal.

  • Staff will talk with you about the project's:
    • consistency with the Comprehensive Plan
    • any development and zoning code requirements
    • the review procedures
    • timeline
    • developer's responsibilities
    • possible required review board approvals
  • Pre-Application meetings are voluntary and free.
  • A Project Manager will be assigned to you at this stage. They will be your point of contact for all subsequent applications and permits and guide you through the entire permitting process.

What can I expect at a Pre-Application Meeting?

  • Town staff representing Development Review and Zoning, Natural Resources, Stormwater and Traffic Engineering, Building Code, Urban Design, Floodplain Management and Fire Rescue attend the meetings.
  • Meetings are typically 30 minutes, open to the public and representatives for the utility companies and outside agencies are invited to attend. Invite as many people from your project team as you feel necessary.
