The Town ensures that all new developments and redevelopment on the Island meet current Land Management Ordinance (LMO) requirements for water quality and quantity. The Stormwater Utility performs development plan reviews, issues permits and conducts inspections of active construction sites to ensure compliance with approved stormwater plans, the LMO, and state requirements.
To verify compliance at active construction sites, the Stormwater Utility performs routine inspections. During these inspections, they assess whether erosion control and sediment prevention standards are being met and confirm that the construction of stormwater infrastructure is done correctly.
If a construction site is found to be non-compliant, the Stormwater Utility may issue notices of violation or stop-work orders until the site is brought back into compliance.
Once construction is complete and the site has been stabilized, the project is finalized with a final inspection to verify that post-construction conditions remain compliant with the permit and approved plan requirements.
Please note that there are fees associated with plan reviews, site inspections, violations, and any stop-work orders issued.
