Doing Business with the Town

Gullah Geechee Historic Neighborhoods CDC and Town of Hilton Head Island Hosting Mini Business Expo and Seminar

The Gullah Geechee Historic Neighborhoods Community Development Corporation (CDC) and the Town of Hilton Head Island are hosting a mini business expo and seminar focused on helping local entrepreneurs learn how to do business with the Town. The event will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 18, at the Island Recreation Center, 20 Wilborn Road.

The mini business expo will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. It will provide business owners with opportunities to meet one-on-one with Town staff and explore potential contracting and procurement opportunities. Representatives from the South Carolina Commission for Minority Affairs will also be available to share information on business certification, which helps small, diverse businesses become eligible for opportunities in both the private and public sectors.

“Our goal is to help local businesses connect directly with Town departments and learn about the opportunities available to them,” said Thomas Boxley, Executive Director of the Gullah Geechee Historic Neighborhoods CDC. “This event is an excellent way for new and established businesses to engage with the Town’s staff and position themselves for growth. We hope entrepreneurs will take some time from their schedule to come meet one-on-one with us”

Town representatives from the following departments will be on hand:

• Business License
• Development Services
• Facilities
• Fire Rescue
• Gullah Geechee Historic Neighborhoods CDC
• Procurement
• Public Projects

For those unable to attend the expo, a seminar at 5:30 p.m. will feature a panel discussion on the Town’s procurement process and business certifications, followed by a question-and-answer session. A Town staff will provide interpretation for Latino business owners who may need it.
