Beach Renourishment Phase I Project Update 13 – Construction activities at Pine Island, Port Royal and Islanders Beach Park

This Week’s Progress (Oct. 25-31)

Marinex Construction demobilized equipment (trucks, bulldozers, and pipelines) from Pine Island to Islanders Beach Park, allowing crews to prepare for the next leg of Phase 1 beach renourishment work - specifically, the Port Royal Sound shoreline, also known as the heel.

Cape Romain Contractors began preparing the second phase of work at Pine Island – the installation of breakwater structures. This will take several months to complete. The Pine Island beach will remain closed during this segment of work.  

Looking Ahead (Nov. 1-7)

Cape Romain Contractors will start hauling truckloads of rocks to the area of Pine Island beach, where the breakwater structures will be built. This construction will take several months to complete. The Pine Island beach will remain closed during this segment of work.
