Beach Renourishment Phase 1 Project Update 12

Construction activities at Pine Island, Port Royal and Islanders Beach Park

October 24, 2025

This Week's Progress (October 18-24)

Marinex Construction finished pumping sand onto Pine Island beach, expanding the shoreline with more than 194,600 cubic yards of new sand.

Looking Ahead (October 25-31)

On Saturday, Cape Romain Contractors will start the second part of work at Pine Island - installation of breakwater structures. This will take several months to complete. The Pine Island beach will remain closed during this final stage of work.

Marinex will also start demobilizing equipment from Pine Island and getting ready for the next leg of Phase 1 beach renourishment work - specifically, the Port Royal Sound shoreline, also known as the heel. Here's what you can expect during the weekend:

Alternative nearby beach access and parking is available at Folly Field and Driessen Beach parks, and the Burkes Beach Road access.
