Beach Renourishment Phase I Project Update 11 – Pine Island construction work

October 17, 2025

This Week’s Progress (Oct. 11-17)

Adverse weather and ocean conditions over the past few weeks impacted the pipeline transporting sand from the Baypoint Shoals sand source to Pine Island, necessitating some repairs.

As a result, Marinex Construction temporarily paused sand pumping operations for several days to complete repairs.  They resumed pumping sand late Thursday and expect to continue as weather and ocean conditions allow.

So far, Marinex has pumped approximately 63,000 cubic yards of sand onto Pine Island beach.  For this part of the project, more than 194,600 cubic yards of sand will be added to this beach.

Looking Ahead (Oct. 18-24)

The Marinex Construction crew will continue to monitor weather and ocean conditions and pump sand on Pine Island beach if it is safe to do so. During the sand placement work, the entire beach will be closed. The public is advised to observe and follow all posted signs.

We know everyone’s eager to get back on the beach for those relaxing fall strolls — and soon you’ll be able to, with a wider, more beautiful shoreline to enjoy. Thank you for your patience! We’ll be sure to let you know as soon as the work on this beach is complete.
