Hilton Head Island Residents Invited to Apply for Vacancy on Beaufort Jasper Housing Trust Board

June 10, 2025

The Hilton Head Island Town Council needs one dedicated resident to serve on the Beaufort Jasper Housing Trust board.

"Serving our community is a shared responsibility among elected officials and residents, whose valuable experience and knowledge help us enhance the quality of life on Hilton Head Island," said Mayor Alan Perry. "This opening is very important as we address the urgent need to facilitate more workforce housing across the region."

The board plays a vital role in advancing the mission of the Beaufort-Jasper Housing Trust (BJHT), dedicated to creating and preserving workforce and affordable housing throughout Beaufort and Jasper counties.

Total Vacancy: One. The individual who fills this vacancy will represent the Town of Hilton Head Island.
Meetings: Third Mondays at 10 am at various locations.

On June 3, the Town Council authorized a new intergovernmental agency agreement with amendments designed to define the program further and enable it to better address housing needs on Hilton Head Island. Claude Hicks, BJHT Executive Director, presented an update at the same meeting, further illuminating the need for collective action to address the “the missing middle” and their housing needs.

To qualify for service, applicants must be registered voters within the Town of Hilton Head Island. Applications are kept on file for two years.
