Hilton Head Island Town Council Actions - April 8, 2025

Council members approve first reading of an easement ordinance and accept land donation from Main Street Property Owners' Association

April 10, 2025

Hilton Head Island Town Council held its regularly scheduled meeting on April 8, 2025. The following is a summary of actions taken by the Council.

Town Council members unanimously approved the first reading of an ordinance to authorize an easement on a 1.472-acre parcel of Town-owned property.

Shawn Colin, Hilton Head Island Assistant Town Manager, presented the first reading for the easement, which would grant ingress and egress to the Cordillo Courts and The Hedges subdivisions at 104 Cordillo Parkway. Although there have been decades of long-standing access across this property, the owners of the subdivisions requested a recorded, written easement that formalizes this access. A second reading of the ordinance is scheduled for May 6, 2025.

Next, Town Council members voted unanimously to approve the acquisition of three donated land parcels from the Main Street Property Owners Association (POA).

Colin presented a request for a resolution from Town Council that would authorize the acquisition of a 0.11-acre lot adjacent to a drainage canal under U.S. Highway 278 from the POA to facilitate drainage canal maintenance, which is crucial for the Town's stormwater utility. He reported that the POA has agreed to transfer the property, along with two additional parcels of land divided by Main Street in the same area, as a donation to the Town. The Main Street POA will dissolve after the parcels have been transferred.
