The Town of Hilton Head Island is hosting meetings to gather public feedback and share information about its Districts Planning Project. The information will help create plans for areas of the island that are not part of the 11 largest master planned communities (Hilton Head Plantation, Palmetto Hall, Port Royal, Indigo Run, Spanish Wells, Wexford, Long Cove Club, Palmetto Dunes, Leamington, Shipyard, and Sea Pines).
The project is divided into distinct planning districts across the island, each characterized by unique land uses, neighborhood features, accessibility, and geography. These district-specific plans will serve as a framework for guiding infrastructure investments, shaping zoning regulations, determining land use, and implementing programs and policies that influence the future of each area. Additionally, these plans will align with and complement the Town’s Comprehensive Plan, Our Plan.
The meetings will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on the following dates:
Skull Creek District Thursday, January 16. 205 Hilton Head Island Boys & Girls Club 151 Gumtree Road
The Skull Creek District encompasses communities bordered by Skull Creek, including the historic Stoney and Squire Pope neighborhoods and properties along and off William Hilton Parkway on the island's north end, from Jenkins Island to Jarvis Creek.
Bridge-to-Beach District Thursday, January 23, 2025 USCB Hilton Head Island Campus 1 Sand Shark Drive
The Bridge-to-Beach District encompasses communities along Broad Creek just over the Cross Island bridge, areas bordered by the Wexford and Shipyard planned developments, and areas near Sea Pines Circle, Cordillo Parkway, and Point Comfort Road.
Parkway Arts District Thursday, January 30, 2025 Hilton Head Island Community Church Community Room 860 William Hilton Parkway
The Parkway Arts District covers William Hilton Parkway, stretching from the northern end of Shelter Cove Lane to the intersection of Arrow Road and William Hilton Parkway.
Marshes District Wednesday, February 5, 2025 Grace Community Church Youth Room 450 Spanish Wells Road
Jarvis Creek bounds the Marshes District to the north and Broad Creek to the south. It includes neighborhoods along Spanish Wells Road and Marshland Road.
Main Street District Thursday, February 13, 2025 Hilton Head Island Branch Library 11 Beach City Road
The Main Street District, bounded by Hilton Head Plantation to the north and Indigo Run to the south, encompasses Main Street and William Hilton Parkway, with Jarvis Creek Park and the Hilton Head Island public school campus located to the east.
Forest Beach District Thursday, February 20, 2025 Beach House Resort Sand & Surf Ballroom 1 South Forest Beach Drive
Beginning at the intersection of Pope Avenue and Cordillo Parkway, the Forest Beach District is bounded to the north by the Shipyard planned development and stretches southward to South Forest Beach Drive and Cordillo Parkway, where these roads transition into Sea Pines Drive.
Chaplin District Thursday, February 27, 2025 Hilton Head Beach & Tennis Carolina Room 40 Folly Field Road
The Chaplin District stretches from Broad Creek to the west to the Atlantic Ocean to the east, encompassing beach parks, the Chaplin community and the Folly Field area neighborhoods.
