Effective Tuesday, Oct. 22, the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has lowered the speed limit on William Hilton Parkway to 40 mph at the request of the Town of Hilton Head Island. This change aims to enhance safety between Beach City and Dillon roads.
SCDOT replaced the existing 45 mph signs with 40 mph signs, thus immediately reducing the posted speed in this area to 40 mph.
In addition to the speed limit reduction, the Town will schedule additional improvements over the next several months. These improvements include:
