October 3, 2024
Starting the week of October 7, 2024, the Town of Hilton Head Island will begin constructing a new pathway along Cordillo Parkway by the entrance to Shipyard. Work will occur Monday through Friday, from 7 am to 7 pm, and is expected to be completed by the end of October.
Contractors will construct an 8-foot-wide asphalt pathway along the south side of Cordillo Parkway, between Pope Avenue and the entrance to Shipyard enhancing safety and connectivity in this area. As part of the improvements, an ADA-compliant detectable surface will be installed, along with new signage, crosswalk markings, and landscape enhancements.
Traffic control measures and construction signage will be in place throughout the project. Motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists are advised to exercise caution when navigating the work zone.
Once complete, the new pathway will provide safer and more efficient connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists, linking the existing pathway on Pope Avenue to the entrance of the Shipyard. This project is part of the Town’s ongoing commitment to improving infrastructure through the Capital Improvements Program.
