As the November 5th general election approaches, the Town of Hilton Head Island is reminding political candidates and their supporters to adhere to the regulations regarding the placement of campaign signs.
To ensure the public’s safety while allowing candidates to communicate directly with residents, the following rules must be observed when placing campaign or other politically related signs. According to Section 57-25-10 of the South Carolina Code of Laws and Section 16-5-114 of the Town’s Municipal Code, political signs:
After the election, all campaign signs are requested to be promptly removed.
In this general election cycle, Hilton Head Island will hold municipal elections for Wards 1, 3, and 6. Citizens interested in running for one of these wards have until noon Thursday, August 15th, to file their candidacy at Town Hall, located at 1 Town Center Court. Town administrative offices are open from 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday-Friday.
