Free COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics Scheduled for September 17 and 18 on Hilton Head Island

The Town of Hilton Head Island, the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control and Hilton Head Hospital will host free COVID-19 vaccine clinics for the public on Friday, September 17 and Saturday, September 18.

No identification, insurance or appointment are required. Booster vaccines are not available.

Vaccine events will be held as follows:

The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is approved for individuals 12 and older. The Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine is approved for individuals 18 and older.

What vaccines will be offered?
The Janssen vaccine and Pfizer vaccine (first dose) will be offered on September 17 at Chaplin Community Park, 11 Cast Net Drive. The second dose of the Pfizer vaccine will be given on October 8 at Chaplin Community Park. The Janssen vaccine will be offered on September 18 at the Hilton Head Island Wine and Food Festival at Lowcountry Celebration Park.

Will booster vaccines be available?
Booster shots will not be available.

Where can I get additional information about the vaccines?
Visit scdhec.gov/vaxfacts for more information and answers to frequently asked vaccine questions or call DHEC’s Vaccination Line at 1-866-365-8110. DHEC staff is available to respond to questions every day from 7 am to 7 pm.

Who is eligible to get a vaccine?
As of May 12, 2021, all South Carolinians 12 and older are eligible for the Pfizer vaccine and all South Carolinians age 18 and older are eligible for the Pfizer, Moderna and Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccines. The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine requires two shots 21 days apart. The Moderna vaccine requires two shots 28 days apart. You must receive both shots of the same type of vaccine: either two shots of Pfizer or two shots of Moderna. The Janssen vaccine only requires one shot.

Do I need an appointment for vaccines and tests?
You do not need an appointment for our vaccine and testing clinics.

Do I need identification to get a vaccine or be tested?
You do not need an ID or insurance to get your shots or be tested at the clinics we are hosting.

Do I need to bring identification to be tested?
If you are under 18 years of age, please bring your parent or legal guardian with you. They will need to give their consent before you can be tested.
