Business Owners Invited to Public Information Session on New Business License Law

Tuesday, July 13, 2021

July 12, 2021

Join us on Tuesday, July 13, for our first public information session about a new ordinance that standardizes administration of business license taxes across municipalities in South Carolina.

The session, hosted by the Revenue Services Department for the Town of Hilton Head Island, begins at 9:30 am and will be held in Council Chambers at the Stephen G. Riley Municipal Complex (Town Hall), 1 Town Center Court. A second session is scheduled for Tuesday, August 3 at 2 pm Seating capacity is limited to 80 persons.

At the sessions, attendees will learn about changes to the Town’s business license ordinance, which is being updated to meet mandates of the SC Business License Tax Standardization Act that the General Assembly passed in September 2020. The law - Act 176 - requires every local government with a business license tax to administer the tax in the same way across the state starting January 1, 2022. Standardizing business license tax administration statewide will make doing business in municipalities easier for businesses, especially those who must obtain licenses in multiple jurisdictions. For more information, please contact the Town’s Revenue Services Department at 843-341-4677 or RS@hiltonheadislandsc.gov.
