Repair and Maintenance Projects Happening Around Hilton Head Island This Week

April 13, 2021

Projects involving repair work on pathways, park playground and traffic signal mast arms will be underway around the Town of Hilton Head Island this week.

Shelter Cove Community Park Playground Will Close Temporarily for Maintenance

The playground at the Shelter Cove Community Park will be temporarily closed on Wednesday, April 14, for maintenance work, including repairs to the slide. The restrooms and all other park amenities will remain open. The playground is scheduled to re-open on Thursday, April 15.

Repair Work on Island Pathways Continue

Repair work on pathways along Folly Field Road and Marshland Road began Monday, April 12, and should be finished within a week. There will be some temporary pathway closures in the immediate vicinity of the work, so please be aware and be careful if you are using pathways in those areas.

Maintenance Project on Hilton Head Island Traffic Signals

Maintenance work continues on traffic signal mast arms at various intersections on the Island. Mast arms are the pole fixtures to which traffic signals are attached. The project, which began in late March, involves repainting the mast arms on William Hilton Parkway where it intersects with Arrow Road, Singleton Beach Road and Beachwood Drive. Repainting work has been completed on the mast arm at the intersection of Palmetto Bay Road at Target. The remainder of the project is expected to completed by April 25.

While the project is underway, motorists are urged to use extra caution and patience in work areas as traffic flow may be impacted. Through lanes on Palmetto Bay Road and William Hilton Parkway will remain open during the entire project. Traffic in turn lanes and side streets may experience periodic and temporary lane closures during work periods.
