Hilton Head Island’s New Town Manager Marc Orlando to Start in Position on February 22

Marc Orlando, the new Town Manager for Hilton Head Island, will begin in his role with the Town on Monday, February 22, Mayor John McCann has announced.

"We look forward to having Marc on board to guide our Town staff and initiatives. He is the right person to help elevate our community, and help protect and enhance our quality of life," McCann said. "With his wide range of experience in planning, growth management, leadership and other areas of municipal government, he will truly be an asset to the Town of Hilton Head Island."

"I'm honored for the opportunity to serve as the Town Manager for Hilton Head Island and am grateful to the Town Council members for having confidence in my abilities. I look forward to getting started and working alongside the Town Council, the staff and the community," Orlando said.

The Town Council voted in December 2020 to offer the position to Orlando, a fully Credentialed Manager within the International City & County Managers Association (ICMA).  Early in his career, Orlando worked for the Town of Hilton Head Island as an Intern, GIS Analyst, and Senior Planner.

Most recently, Orlando served as the town manager of Bluffton, South Carolina. During Orlando's tenure, Bluffton experienced a period of unprecedented economic success that included major investments at Buckwalter Place Commerce Park, Palmetto Bluff, the Bluffton Historic District and other locations. Orlando was instrumental in the planning and implementation of the Multi-County Commerce Park, Old Town Master Plan, Don Ryan Center for Innovation and various community and economic development initiatives.

While in Bluffton, South Carolina legislators awarded Orlando a House Resolution that honored his "visionary leadership" to balance the Town's natural resources, history, culture, recreation, and sense of community.
