Home Safety & Repair Program

Thank you for your interest in the Town of Hilton Head Island's Home Safety & Repair Program. At this time, we're pausing the acceptance of new applications while we assess current needs and resources. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

In the meantime, we are pleased to share an update about the program, which made possible:

  • Repairs to roofs and other parts of homes to help keep them safe and dry.
  • Demolition of uninhabited or unsafe structures on homeowners' properties.
  • Removal or trimming of trees in danger of damaging homeowners' properties.

With funding from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, a federal government initiative aimed at addressing the adverse effects of COVID-19 — including housing, rent and utility issues, and food insecurity — we spent $1,488,323 to complete 106 projects. These projects included:

  • 21 tree removals or tree pruning
  • 85 essential home repairs

Two additional home repair projects are under contract.
