Shelter Cove Sculpture Trail

Shelter Cove Sculpture Trail connects Shelter Cove Community Park and Shelter Cove Veterans' Memorial Park to a new trailhead parking area. The trail features a temporary display of public art sculptures. Permanent and temporary sculptures incorporating Island wildlife and environmental themes are installed along the trail. Temporary pieces will be changed every 12-18 months.

The trail is a public pathway network along Broad Creek and Shelter Cove Lane. The pathways along Broad Creek provide spectacular views of the salt marsh. In the future, it will be connected to the proposed Chaplin Linear Park. The trail features:

  • Realigned and widened sections of a multi-use pathway.
  • A boardwalk along the waterfront of Veterans' Park.
  • A pedestrian timber bridge between Veterans' Park and Waterwalk II.
  • Additional public parking and a trailhead located on Town-owned property.
  • Public art and sculpture gardens.
  • Views of Broad Creek.
  • Interpretive signage sharing the history and ecology of Broad Creek.
