The Office of Cultural Affairs for the Town of Hilton Head Island and the Arts Council of Hilton Head announce a change to the Fourth Annual Crescendo Celebration of Arts & Culture originally scheduled for October and November 2020.

Crescendo: A celebration of art & culture on Hilton Head Island is traditionally organized in honor of October’s National Arts and Humanities Month. It highlights and showcases the vast array of arts, culture, and historical organizations, individual artists, performers, and authors living and creating on Hilton Head Island. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the festival of events originally slated for this October will be delayed until May 2021.

In place of a full Crescendo Celebration in October, this year, to celebrate National Arts and Humanities Month, Culture HHI will host a series of virtual and in-person events that follow social distancing and recommended safety guidelines. Sign-up for the Culture HHI newsletter at CultureHHI.org and follow Culture HHI on Facebook for current information on all events.

Last year’s Crescendo Celebration featured more than 100 unique arts and cultural programs that the Town estimated attracted more than 10,000 people from all over the United States, Canada, and parts of Europe. They included concerts, theatrical productions, museum and gallery exhibits, lectures, poetry readings, dance performances, historical tours, hands-on arts experiences, and educational offerings.

Americans for the Arts launched National Arts and Humanities Month 30 years ago to bring awareness to the arts by focusing on the arts at local, state and national levels, encouraging individuals and organizations to participate in the arts, allowing Governments and businesses to show their support of the arts, and raising public awareness about the role the arts and humanities play in our communities and lives.

Hilton Head Island’s full Crescendo Celebration will take place May 8-23, 2021, and will include outdoor concerts, theatre, dance performances, historical tours, and visual art exhibits for residents and visitors to enjoy live.
