The Town of Hilton Head Island will reopen its offices on Monday, June 15, with limited public access.

Town office buildings have been closed since March 23 due to the coronavirus pandemic. "We have spent the last few weeks preparing our facilities to open using public health guidelines from the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention," said Steve Riley, Town Manager.

"Most of the Town's staff, who had been working from home during the pandemic, have returned to the office and we have taken every precaution to ensure their safety and the public's safety," Riley said.

"The coronavirus is still present and we are moving cautiously as we begin to have more interaction with the public," he said.

Here is what you need to know:

  • Members of the public are encouraged to conduct business with the Town by phone, e-mail or online, when possible.
  • Members of the public that need assistance in person will be allowed to enter Town office buildings by appointment only. They should call ahead to schedule their visit.
  • Upon arriving in the parking lot for a scheduled meeting, you should call the staff person you are meeting with and let them know you have arrived. The staff person will meet you at the designated public entrance and escort you to the meeting location.
  • Following the meeting, you will be escorted back to the public door to exit the building. No member of the public will be allowed to roam Town buildings unescorted.
  • Anyone visiting Town office buildings is required to wear a mask while in the buildings.
