In compliance with the latest order S.C. Governor Henry McMaster issued Tuesday, March 31, the Town of Hilton Head Island has closed all of its public parks, effective April 1, 2020. The public is asked to be mindful of the gates and barricades at park locations.

The order called for the closure of non-essential businesses, venues, facilities, services and activities for public use as a way to prepare for and respond to the actual, ongoing, and evolving public health threat posed by COVID-19. Additionally, the Hilton Head Island Town Council earlier this week passed a resolution that called for the closure of parking lots at Town parks.

Parks on Hilton Head Island include:

Shelter Cove Community Park
Chaplin Community Park
Jarvis Creek Park
Crossings Park
Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park
Honey Horn
Rowing and Sailing Center at Squire Pope Community Park

Two weeks ago on March 20, the Town closed all public access to its beach parks and beach parking lots.  They include:

Alder Lane Beach Access
Burkes Beach
Coligny Beach Park
Driessen Beach Park
Fish Haul Beach Park
Folly Field Beach Park
Islanders Beach Park
