Construction of the Town of Hilton Head Island's William Hilton Parkway (US 278 B) and Queens Way (Leamington / Fresh Market Shoppes) Signalized Intersection Improvement Project is scheduled to begin in early November 2013 and extend through March 2014.
The project includes construction of a signalized intersection at William Hilton Parkway and Queens Way (Leamington Entrance) and a new roadway that will serve the Fresh Market Shoppes and Hargray campus. A multi-use pathway connecting the Fresh Market Shoppes to the new intersection and left turn lanes at the intersection will be built. Eventually, the existing median openings at the Fresh Market Shoppes and Hargray driveways will be closed.
There may be temporary lane closures at certain stages of the project. Traffic will be controlled through the work zone via signs, traffic control devices, and flagmen.
A public meeting to discuss construction of the project will be held on Tuesday, October 29th at 5:00 PM in the Benjamnin M. Racusin Council Chambers at Town Hall, located at 1 Town Center Court. If you are unable to attend the meeting and would like more information about the project, you may contact Jennifer Lyle at JenniferL@hiltonheadislandsc.gov or (843) 341-4779.
