Project Description
A new pathways along the ocean side of South Forest Beach Drive from Coligny Beach Park to Tanglewood Drive, landscaped raised median islands, and a new relocated crosswalk and pedestrian signal.
Reconstruction of the existing pathway on Pope Avenue from the Coligny Beach Parking Lot entrance to the new Hawk signal is included for better alignment to the HAWK signal and to be constructed in oyster shell concrete.
Project Objectives
Provide safe and functional multi-use pathway for public travel and recreation, median landscaping islands and a new relocated crosswalk pedestrian signal.

- Pavement and curb removal for new landscaped medians adjacent to new crosswalk
- Curbing installed for new landscaped medians on South Forest Beach Drive
- Tree limb removal for sight distance to new pedestrian HAWK signal from Pope Avenue
- Milling of asphalt for new decorative crosswalk on South Forest Beach Drive and removal of existing crosswalk

What Happened the Week Ending March 21 2020
- Concrete foundations for the new pedestrian HAWK (High-intensity Activated Cross Walk) signalized crosswalk installed on South Forest Beach Drive
- Electrical, service, wiring, and new signal cabinet installed for the new signalized crosswalk
- Signal Poles to be installed at the new signalized crosswalk (traffic interruptions may occur on South Forest Beach Dr)
- Existing pathway along Pope Ave from the new Park and beach parking lot entrance demoed and replaced with oyster shell concrete
- Construction of the new alignment of the pathway from the Coligny Beach parking lot to the HAWK signal started
- Demolition of portions of the beach parking lot for the new connections to the pedestrian signalized crosswalk
What's Happening the Week of March 23, 2020
- Mast Arms to be installed on new signalized crosswalk signal poles
- Signal Heads and signs to be installed on the new signalized crosswalk (traffic interruptions may occur on South Forest Beach Dr)
- Continuation of the pathway formation from the beach parking lot to the pedestrian signalized crosswalk
- Completion of drainage infrastructure in front of the Beach House / Holiday Inn
- Drainage continued on South Forest Beach Drive from the Beach House Holiday entrance to tie into existing drainage approximately 100 feet west
- Formation of new pathway along South Forest Beach Drive (beach side) from the beach park to the entrance of the Beach House / Holiday Inn

The Town's contractor is planning to close down the east/beach-bound pathway along Pope Avenue from Coligny Beach Parking Lot to Coligny Circle on Monday, March 2, 2020. Reconstruction of this segment of pathway is scheduled to be completed by March 12, 2020.
