Pedestrian Safety PSA Transcript

This is Cinda Seamon, Public Education Officer for the Town of Hilton Head Island Fire and Rescue.

Walking is great exercise just be careful!

Always walk on the sidewalk. If there is no sidewalk and you have to walk near the road, always walk facing traffic so you can see any car that might go out of control.

When crossing the street, stop at the curb and look left, right and left again for traffic.

Dress to be seen. Bright clothing makes it easier for you to be seen by drivers. Make eye contact with drivers if you have to cross a busy street.

Cross the street at corners or marked crosswalks.

Be careful cutting through parking lots ~ avoid it if possible.

Always stay on leisure paths or sidewalks when possible ~ the terrain is more even.
