The Town hereby announces the pending completion of beach renourishment activities at South Beach adjacent to the Sea Pines Resort. Once finished here, 4 of 6 project segments will have been completed with approximately 1/2 of the project's total sand volume in place. Approximately 1,000,000 cubic yards of sand has been pumped to the Island’s beach since June 17. The active work area will move to the Island's Central Atlantic Oceanfront Beach next, starting at South Forest Beach and advancing to the north. During the week of August 8, our contractor will break down the pipeline used to build the project at South Beach and ready it for transport to South Forest Beach. Pipe transport activities are expected to occur during overnight hours early next week. Fill placement at South Forest Beach is expected to resume on or about August 15.
Additional Beach Renourishment Project information is available at the Town's website: www.hiltonheadislandsc.gov.
