The Town of Hilton Head Island will be holding a ceremony recognizing the naming of the Charlie Simmons, Sr. Memorial Bridge on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 9:00 AM at the Honey Horn Discovery House Fountain Terrace. Before bridges connected the Island to the mainland, Mr. Charlie Simmons, Sr., an island native, was instrumental in transporting both goods and people to and from the island. In recognition of his contributions to this community, the bridge crossing Jarvis Creek on Spanish Wells Road will be named in his honor.
Honey Horn can be accessed from the on ramp of the Cross Island Parkway near the intersection of US278 and Gumtree Road or from the off ramp of the Cross Island Parkway. Call 843-341-4768 with questions.
