The Town's project to construct a right turn lane on Main Street and install improved drainage at the subject intersection continues to progress. Curbing along the widened roadway's new edge of pavement has been constructed and the base pavement is being placed within the new right turn lane beginning today. Beginning at 12:00 noon tomorrow, Wednesday, June 26th, the Town's contractor will begin removing a portion of the old pavement surface from Main Street adjacent to the new right turn lane, a process that will facilitate the placement of a smooth fresh pavement surface from curb to curb across the segment of Main Street being widened. This will result in the need to reduce Main Street to a single lane of travel next to Hospital Center Boulevard for periods of time from 12:00 noon Wednesday the 26th until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28th, 2013. Flagging personnel will direct motorists passing between the two streets through the work zone in alternating directions of travel. The Town's contractor has been asked to avoid instituting flagging operations during the 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. peak traffic volume hours. Motorists should expect delays, however, in passing in either direction between Main Street and Hospital Center Boulevard, and are asked to avoid the area entirely by choosing William Hilton Parkway as an alternate route where possible.
