The Town of Hilton Head Island is constructing three (3) pedestrian crosswalks on William Hilton Parkway at Regency Parkway, Yacht Cove Drive, and Chamber of Commerce Drive. Also included in the construction project is a left turn lane on William Hilton Parkway across from Yacht Cove Drive to the Circle K gas station. The projects are part of the Town's Capital Improvement Roadway Improvement Projects. The crosswalks will enhance safer bicycle and pedestrian routes from the existing pathway on William Hilton Parkway to businesses and residential areas across the road. They are also designed to fit future pathway projects along William Hilton Parkway. The turn lane across from Yacht Cove Drive to the Circle K is a roadway safety improvement project that should enhance vehicular flow at the intersection. The construction project is scheduled for thirty (30) days and expected to be completed by mid-June 2013.
There will be temporary traffic interruptions for turn lane closures during the time of construction. The traffic interruptions will be brief and should only cause temporary delays. Traffic will be flagged around the work areas while construction crews work on demolition, new curbing, storm pipe, and asphalt installation for the project. Traffic will be controlled through the work zone via signs, traffic control devices, and flagmen.
