Mathews Drive Side Streets Project

The Mathews Drive Side Streets project is part of the 2004 Chaplin / Mathews Initiative Plan. Part of this plan was to redesign the secondary street systems to enhance vehicular movements in the area. In 2007, the Town acquired the subject street rights of way with the intent of rehabilitating the dilapidated streets. The streets included in the project are Oak Park Drive, Mingo Way, Cooperative Way, Thompson Street, Power Alley, and Electric Avenue.

The scope of work includes rebuilding the roads with new drainage and improving on-street parking to ensure unrestricted traffic flow. A new segment of roadway of Electric Avenue from Mingo Way to Cooperative Way will be constructed to enhance connectivity of the streets. Permanent parking and temporary construction easements have been acquired for the project and plans were completed in 2013 for construction.
