Drivers License Suspensions

To reinstate a drivers license suspended for failure to pay a summons issued to you on Hilton Head Island by the Beaufort County Sheriff's Department or Plantation Security, you must pay the original fine to the Municipal Court via cash, money order or cashier check. Personal Checks cannot be accepted for fines for a case on a suspended drivers license status. Upon payment of the fine in full, the Municipal Court will provide you a copy of Blue Form DL-53 to submit to the Office of Driver Records for the reinstatement of driving privileges.

South Carolina Drivers
Upon receipt of the Blue Form DL-53 from the Court, it is your responsibility to present in person at any SC Department of Motor Vehicles

Division Office or by mail to the Office of Driver Records, the blue copy of Form DL-53 accompanied by a $100.00 reinstatement fee per violation.

Out of State Drivers
Upon receipt of the blue copy of Form DL-53, it is your responsibility to contact home state Department of Public Safety/Division of Motor Vehicles for individual state requirements.
