Special Inspections

Special Inspector Registration applications are now available on the Building Codes Council's (BCC) website. Go to http://www.llr.state.sc.us/pol/bcc/ and select the "Code Enforcement Officer and Special Inspector Registration Application" link located in the "Board News" box. Special inspector registrations will be required for all individuals performing inspections in compliance with Chapter 17 of the International Building Code.

A new "Contract Inspector" category has been added to the Code Enforcement Officer Registration Program. The contract inspector registration will be issued to individuals that offer or perform the same inspections as municipal and county inspectors (commonly referred to as "chapter one" inspections), on a contract basis.

To qualify for registration renewal, special and contract inspectors must submit a minimum of 24 hours of continuing education, approved by the BCC and obtained within the current registration cycle. The cost of continuing education will be the responsibility of the registrant.
