Mayor's Honored Islander Award

The Mayor's Honored Islander Award recognizes Hilton Head Island volunteers who excel in bettering our community. These citizens sacrifice their time, talents and resources to strengthen our community without compensation or significant public attention.

Anyone or any organization may nominate individuals for the award, which is presented three times a year. A committee of local citizens, appointed by the Mayor, reviews nominations and choses individuals for the honor based on the following criteria:

  • Residency. Nominees must be residents of Hilton Head Island.

  • Volunteerism. Nominees service to others, professional excellence, civic and professional recognition, and community activities are considered. Their volunteer endeavors should be with Hilton Head Island organizations.

  • Community Impact. Nominees should have made an identifiable significant impact to the Hilton Head Island community.

Honorees receive a certificate and are invited to a special dinner hosted by the Mayor and Hudson's Seafood House on the Docks.

For more information, call 843-341-4700.
